According to figures from Aim, the Association of Independent Music, the first official combined music chart, due to debut on Sunday, will seriously skew the chart against independents. The positions of various bands in the official and combined music charts have been compared over a three week period. Aim claims that the research shows that in each week a number of bands form independent labels lost their top 40 status. For example, week 12 saw Bright Eyes, I am Kloot and Roots Manuva fall out of the top 40.
